ustice is the corner stone of the edifice of a democratic gov· ernment. Inculcating the sense of justice among the stu dents has apparently been a difficult task because the edu·
cators have not taken this issue seriously. Unless there is a sen of sympathy for the fellow human being in need of help the senSl of justice cannot be inculcated. Education should teach the students that in a democratic governm~t justice to the weak pan of humanity such as the aged and the weak, people sufferiIl/ from debilitating diseases, discarded and homeless children aged women, poverty stricken people because of consummatiIll illness, require utmost care by a democratic government is jus· tice is to be promoted. Now we see that a democratic form of gov· ernment given rise to the cult of foxes, who by their cunning· ness manipulate the people to keep themselves in political po\\,· er. The students who have the inclination to become leaders 01 tomorrow should, through education, cultivate a sense of jus· tice, and no education in a democratic set-up is worth its name if it fails to foster the sense of justice through selective curricu· lum.
. Education should properly emphasize the value of justice. and why we need it, rather than teaching students to count mono ey. The importance of justice and the ethics of it should be taught to the students as we teach sciences Teaching of science in 3 democratic set-up will be oflittle use if the future scientists are devoid of compassion towards the suffering lot, as compassion is the mainspring of justice.

The greater the justice in the society the more ideal it will tend to become. In the absence of justice the Constitution can be manipulated to garner power by the cunning foxes. Freedom does not mean a freedom to exploit the weak and venerable humanity. But freedom means to promote justice in the soci~ ty.Educationists have. consistently ignored this aspect of civic

administration. and consequent· ly we have a soci· ety engaged in a ruthless strug~! for survival ana power. Unfortunately there is no strug· gle for justice, because the weal: are incapable 01 securing justice
owing to their weakness. The destitute children may be the ca~ in point. Aged and the homeless need justice as much as the minorities.

Justice and selfishness cannot go together. Out of selfish motives children abandon their aged parents, simply finding them of no use. This constitutes a sheer muffling of justice. And in the education it should be emphasized the sin perpetrated by the siblings abandoning their parents. It is surprising that a country which boasts of being a biggest democracy has not fos· tered this element in the youngsters. Cognizance of the impor· tance of justice in their daily life is important. In the absence of this the cQurts would be overflowing with criminal cases.

To reconstruct society of the principles of natural justice is the primary duty of education. Unless education bring in its cur· riculum of schools the programme of how to foster a thorough sense of justice among children one cannot have a just societ)~ rather it will be a society ruled by foxes.
